The 46th edition of Rendez-Vous Canada was truly spectacular. The event was held last week at the Quebec City Convention Center in unique and magical Quebec City.
This year’s event was a fully in-person show with suppliers, buyers and media all there to learn about what is new and exciting this year in Destination Canada tourism.
The sold-out event boasted 911 delegates representing 488 Canadian suppliers who met with over 370 international buyers in 78 timed appointment slots which resulted in 51,000 one-on-one appointments being conducted during this exciting signature event.
Most buyer attendees were from Destination Canada’s key markets which include: the United States, Australia, China, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.
RVC introduced a new QR code and mobile check-in for attendees which was the fastest registration and badge pick-up process that I have encountered at a trade show.
A few key takeaways from the show:
- New accommodations & hotel brands (such as Nobu & Moxy) are opening across Canada.
- The tour operator luxury market offerings are expanding.
- Glamping is in high-demand.
- Indigenous tours, restaurants and experiences are super-hot
- New cruise itineraries are starting for Destination Canada. Viking’s new vessel, the Viking Polaris, includes a 15-day voyage that features some of Toronto & Ontario’s most iconic sights.
- The first hydrogen-powered train in North America will start running between Quebec City and Charlevoix, providing a cutting-edge and green way to travel through the region.
- The Honorable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, provided an update on the state of Canada’s tourism economy and spoke of their bright future ahead.
Canada is such a vast and amazing destination with experiences that your clients won’t want to miss:
- Northern Lights
- Unforgettable wildlife
- Friendly people
- History & culture.
- Camping in its national parks.
